I found their collection of classic book covers as color inspiration delightful. So much so, that I bought two more brown bag kits. <div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiER5LZcoYklu8mk5eFotTnkkCiI3MLSx775mYbrLZ2_8BN0ynN-YsGhyphenhyphenYpH90bof60O4X-d8Tsg1bCq7u10IHnDU-9jSelLAC-ddZmbp3EyKqS0gKBB7gOolYqEyfnd05SPmp6qXnc0S8DCCvf8_ojcjEXQUybWGH11knEf71zZVhgIyXWWJOX0ZFn3pAw/s2992/20240323_143100.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiER5LZcoYklu8mk5eFotTnkkCiI3MLSx775mYbrLZ2_8BN0ynN-YsGhyphenhyphenYpH90bof60O4X-d8Tsg1bCq7u10IHnDU-9jSelLAC-ddZmbp3EyKqS0gKBB7gOolYqEyfnd05SPmp6qXnc0S8DCCvf8_ojcjEXQUybWGH11knEf71zZVhgIyXWWJOX0ZFn3pAw/w640-h640/20240323_143100.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I bought <a href="https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48860/the-raven">The Raven</a> and <a href="https://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/cc.aspx">The Call of Cthulhu</a>. I even added the extra coordinating fabric for borders and binding. I really like the mix of greens and blues in The Call of Cthulhu bag. The Raven will likely be stunning with the almost monochromatic palette. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6kvfjwdQellM0rGcbcpn_GhpwkmizaiF-KiaH1iRK5uK37NVFhH77zDHqFlZHmGXE2ldE0jj9haRhDVybQFT_jDnNF3ZE1-MgPrfv0QIa3ixCuaHqOoXBsnpwVeuyII5vzLpYjxTG-fuzP39ip5h5UzX1kk_OBnguQtLfmC2inqECANsEm4K7CUhCwyI3/s2992/20240324_141358.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6kvfjwdQellM0rGcbcpn_GhpwkmizaiF-KiaH1iRK5uK37NVFhH77zDHqFlZHmGXE2ldE0jj9haRhDVybQFT_jDnNF3ZE1-MgPrfv0QIa3ixCuaHqOoXBsnpwVeuyII5vzLpYjxTG-fuzP39ip5h5UzX1kk_OBnguQtLfmC2inqECANsEm4K7CUhCwyI3/w640-h640/20240324_141358.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I started with The Raven. I decided to jump in and try another this year.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbjgQYV1VIyxZZy8Tw8XSLm2tCzF9vBDOuP2h5HAmpvbW78qh1IcFTctkl8ncnqASc6Ypwse83UhUz3nKA_GLKbu163dM62RVCnjM3_5UeEHcpqunerd2OE5H4_Zb0KbhL9_P53tmtHulD5cYey36aIUBn5BcALZ8jxSotFNjMMJCZ9dNOhPPrU-0QrAq_/s2992/20240205_172623.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbjgQYV1VIyxZZy8Tw8XSLm2tCzF9vBDOuP2h5HAmpvbW78qh1IcFTctkl8ncnqASc6Ypwse83UhUz3nKA_GLKbu163dM62RVCnjM3_5UeEHcpqunerd2OE5H4_Zb0KbhL9_P53tmtHulD5cYey36aIUBn5BcALZ8jxSotFNjMMJCZ9dNOhPPrU-0QrAq_/w640-h640/20240205_172623.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I chose my brown bag based on the floral print. I'm not entirely sure how I feel ab out the amount of pink fabric but I'm going to go with the flow. I bought this kit from <a href="https://thecrabbyquilter.com/">The Crabby Quilter</a> in Annapolis.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCJtKk68u_mBiEz_IuZoNG9nw_yb9kA2nvWqbOz2RBXtl1IiAadaGyUN0yPyTdJHLIUE1QyTDvB9RWTpit6Vw-rVzQDAHzdEddO4ua50llv1VdxlUqU6vMrUhLQ6frmGQResmA_jow294GU3NpTp_DYjHROWhoPg9e1g9SuzhapgyAtubwDnFk45EuQza2/s2992/20240226_135202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCJtKk68u_mBiEz_IuZoNG9nw_yb9kA2nvWqbOz2RBXtl1IiAadaGyUN0yPyTdJHLIUE1QyTDvB9RWTpit6Vw-rVzQDAHzdEddO4ua50llv1VdxlUqU6vMrUhLQ6frmGQResmA_jow294GU3NpTp_DYjHROWhoPg9e1g9SuzhapgyAtubwDnFk45EuQza2/w640-h640/20240226_135202.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>The kit comes with cutting instructions to get you started. I did the initial cutter and stacked everything in an project box so I will be ready each week. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHVvY-yj588ekkIPU5PIyzl5DMdHhx2KKlWnLw87GtxzBZuQbYe2kqW1XQ_ZLGMt0gD-z7n4vRmEn6ewDlXoL1srXq3sqteTEYw7T6aavmb9s6HL_UlCjzRCSCKVYmPFMd2fmIcyjuw7MKPAC17cZe1MjRYN3p2xU-t2JJMcAqtVePAkoafOAo8__Lo4ZW/s2992/20240317_110111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHVvY-yj588ekkIPU5PIyzl5DMdHhx2KKlWnLw87GtxzBZuQbYe2kqW1XQ_ZLGMt0gD-z7n4vRmEn6ewDlXoL1srXq3sqteTEYw7T6aavmb9s6HL_UlCjzRCSCKVYmPFMd2fmIcyjuw7MKPAC17cZe1MjRYN3p2xU-t2JJMcAqtVePAkoafOAo8__Lo4ZW/w640-h640/20240317_110111.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>The first clue came out on March 16th. The following clues will come out every other week until the final reveal. I wonder if I can resist buying another kit? Only time will tell. <div><div><br /></div><div>Want to join in the <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=brown+bag+mystery+2024">Brown Bag Mystery Quilt fun</a>? I tell myself every year that I won't buy fabric I don't need. Then, I go in search of backing fabric and come home with more than backing fabric. This time, it was a trip to <a href="https://www.springwaterdesigns.com/" target="_blank">Spring Water Designs</a>. The four, 1-yard cuts in the foreground were fabrics on the discount shelf. I have no plan for these fabrics but they were just too good to leave behind. I also grabbed a cone of Omni for the long arm. Omni is a great thread and one of my favorites for the long arm. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6DmAMOeexeMncCz1qFUT_kCGep1la8P9G396TMLMk_4o4rPmv0s5ZK1uNJoqsyIt3C5FKFr2RGQoNS0D2ZYVrTSn6v_CluazE1T1x3kErQykyGYP4z1eP4w0nypEGRsIa-xf4T5XpZqPzfloTeN6JhF2Jf1ode46689sDk39s5bbsrYXlDdob9gg8OsC/s2992/20240224_105757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6DmAMOeexeMncCz1qFUT_kCGep1la8P9G396TMLMk_4o4rPmv0s5ZK1uNJoqsyIt3C5FKFr2RGQoNS0D2ZYVrTSn6v_CluazE1T1x3kErQykyGYP4z1eP4w0nypEGRsIa-xf4T5XpZqPzfloTeN6JhF2Jf1ode46689sDk39s5bbsrYXlDdob9gg8OsC/w640-h640/20240224_105757.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>The goal of the trip, was backing fabric for my recently finished Charming Tapestry quilt top. At least I managed to get what I went for.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUs3whonLgkvYeihsRYv1AXSBXwgI94CCJ6u29hH4kllrN2IR_JdgTxbJCufTDjQrQvFzjX7LUze7xlcIsEN3n9Z59GRbmb3YadD6dIeIaMah40Mhu6ZorcBCU_uU1cBwmpPFQEhuorMB5xgfzmjZmXtC_W8yAHr5NbbMLlunZoFAXPXJgryA02NjnshGL/s2992/20240224_105934.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUs3whonLgkvYeihsRYv1AXSBXwgI94CCJ6u29hH4kllrN2IR_JdgTxbJCufTDjQrQvFzjX7LUze7xlcIsEN3n9Z59GRbmb3YadD6dIeIaMah40Mhu6ZorcBCU_uU1cBwmpPFQEhuorMB5xgfzmjZmXtC_W8yAHr5NbbMLlunZoFAXPXJgryA02NjnshGL/w640-h640/20240224_105934.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I also went through their scrap bin. This is one of my favorite things about the shop. I swear, if shops filled a quart-size plastic bag with scraps and slapped a price on it, I would buy it every time. I've been sewing them up into units and pressing them open. This is the perfect kind of sewing if you have only a couple minutes. You can piece a couple units and walk away without feeling like you will lose your place.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrXPfErkVN9PYWe5S3cGkmS9TMNhAJvMRILvbo2i-OzarShQI79JqZdL5Ri3s7DtVdQZ0CLQXoXCyfmV7vEc6Wzr5qxmEDmjDhm1vq2aMWbekoIDA4NycYnjemNaQEWAwlvaWbjcz24SbZhVBeLZb48wcLQlj4k9So-8OlxAc5aRi6gc9RwYmhyQ0hDrpe/s2992/20240125_155912.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrXPfErkVN9PYWe5S3cGkmS9TMNhAJvMRILvbo2i-OzarShQI79JqZdL5Ri3s7DtVdQZ0CLQXoXCyfmV7vEc6Wzr5qxmEDmjDhm1vq2aMWbekoIDA4NycYnjemNaQEWAwlvaWbjcz24SbZhVBeLZb48wcLQlj4k9So-8OlxAc5aRi6gc9RwYmhyQ0hDrpe/s320/20240125_155912.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The I played around with the layout. I sewed the units mostly randomly, with the only rule being there should be contrast between the two triangles. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5JjZg25DFvLC7j_J1wZOALGS6ZbCio4yvL9UDCo7wRxgaXpQKOxJXXBeB57RVyi4fqQ1Aec1NV_MAfJtW1oJ5rkdwlAZAMENIV9e0CBCoD7z3_qhC2fr9pO7uFibC5HmRB-id9GO8SQkG_l0ANAzebXT-UjM07etmwYzOscz-0tkA6lSEx24t97JTs0n/s2992/20240127_191606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2992" data-original-width="2992" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5JjZg25DFvLC7j_J1wZOALGS6ZbCio4yvL9UDCo7wRxgaXpQKOxJXXBeB57RVyi4fqQ1Aec1NV_MAfJtW1oJ5rkdwlAZAMENIV9e0CBCoD7z3_qhC2fr9pO7uFibC5HmRB-id9GO8SQkG_l0ANAzebXT-UjM07etmwYzOscz-0tkA6lSEx24t97JTs0n/w640-h640/20240127_191606.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>This is almost the final layout.
