Mending

This is something of a joke at my house. Because I will absolutely fix things, and hem things.
The belt loops on my partners pats had worn through. I sliced up a some denim from another pair of pants and pulled out the belt loop attachments for my Baby Lock. After about thirty minutes of looking for the directions and setting up the machine (it doesn't take long unless you don't use all the features very often. I ended up using the 3/4" attachment.
This attachment makes quick work of making the belt loop pieces.
In a few minutes I made about four yards of belt loop.
Then I ripped off the old belt loops, cut the new belt loops, and marked the fold with my Frixion pen, and got sewing.
There you have it. A brand new belt loop. Maybe next time I will use matching thread. Although, then how will you know there was mending?

I decided to try something different. This is basically a simple quilt with the center built up with a 6" by 12" center, surrounded by two 3" wide rounds, then 6" blocks. Finish off with a 1" border and a 3" border. Easy and effective! I will keep an eye out for fun large prints because this one deserves to be done again. As long as the center measures 18.5" by 24.5" before you add the squares, everything should work out fine.
I'm always a little surprised when I can pull a unified color story quilt out of all of these scraps. A great way to use up scraps! Both will be heading to Annapolis Quilts for Kids

Scrappy bricks quilt pieced and quilted by me. Ready for binding. This block is also called the Potato Chip block. Quilted using the design Oil Spill from Longarm LeagueLongarm League.
I had some half-square triangles cut and ready to become a quilt. I carefully laid out the triangles and pieced them into this scrappy wonder. A great way to use up scraps! Both will be heading to Annapolis Quilts for Kids

Pieces of Love

As I was working through the adult joy that is filing my tax return, I told myself I was going to buy myself something when I finished. That something was a copy of the quilt pattern Pieces of Love by Whole Circle Studio. Did I need another quilt pattern? Absolutely not. That didn't stop me. I bought and downloaded the pattern and starting thinking about the fabrics I wanted to use.
A friend gifted me this bundle of Kona cotton solids. This is the Kona Cotton Fat Quarter Bundles 12 Pieces Peacock (affiliate link). I paired it with this blue-on-white print I had in my collection. I think I bought it as backing for a small quilt and decided to use a different fabric for that project. I added a couple purple-on-purple prints to the mix. This turned out to be the perfect sew my stash project.
The cutting instructions are great. I cut all the pieces, ordered them and started sewing.
The heart is pieced by making several smaller units first.
Then you piece the smaller units together until you have big units.
It took some time but then it all came together. I think it came together rather quickly.
I squared up the center and then added some borders. The quilt didn't need borders. I wanted to use up the rest of that background fabric. The top is now folded up and ready for the trip to the fabric store to pick out backing fabric. I already have a quilting design in mind and I'm excited for the next step.

Brown Bag Mystery Quilt

I had to play catchup with my Brown Bag Mystery Quilt. I was behind for clues 3 and 4. So many half-square triangles! This is the kit from The Crabby Quilter in Annapolis, MD.
I really like working with the solids. They're so forgiving when it comes to cutting and piecing.
This kit is from Mountain Creek Quilt Shop in Alcoa, TN. I bought two kits from them but haven't cut any of the other kit. The last clue is tomorrow and I'm ready!
