Fabric Acquisition

Last weekend I popped over to Spring Water Designs to pick up some backing for quilts. I was very good and only grabbed a couple things extra. I picked up a small Accuquilt Go! mat for my 6" dies. Always nice to have an extra on hand.
This fun speckle was a good fit for my Pieces of Love quilt. I'm excited to get this one quilted.
I grabbed this fun print to back my Brown Bag Mystery Quilt

I also grabbed a medium gray backing for my second Brown Bag Mystery Quilt, and a yard of pink fabric I hope to use in a summer quilt along.

100 Blocks 100 Days Finish

I grabbed my scrappy binding and got stitching.
I love all the little details in this quilt. Look at that little skeleton!
I used almost 30 feet of binding and I didn't even make a dent in that bin of leftover binding.
This was my all-time favorite sampler quilt. Just a great project.

Crazy Week

This week has been a little crazy. Not bad. Just not as productive as I wanted it to be.
As a demonstration, here is what my cutting table looked like at bedtime on Tuesday. Hopefully I will have something more substantial to share on Friday. Enjoy the rest of your week!

100 Blocks 100 Days

I finished my blocks in October 2021
I managed to get the blocks arranged and sewn up in March 2022. These things don't happen quickly. I added a 3" border to frame those 100 blocks.
I even pieced the backing, because that's how scrappy quilts can be.
For binding, I dug into my bin of leftover binding. Yes, this is a thing some quilters have. Mine never gets enough love. There are so many leftover pieces. I need to come up with another good scrappy idea to use some more of it up.
I spend a bunch of time trying to figure out which quilting design to use. I landed on this great flame design from Urban Elementz called Heatwave. I didn't hesitate to pick that pink thread. I will share the finished quilt once I get the quilting finished and the binding attached.

100 Blocks 100 Days

And that makes 100 blocks. This was wonderful adventure. Now I get to play with block placement until I get something that works. I have no idea how it will all come together.

If you are on the fence about trying out this pattern you can check out the great images folks are sharing on Instagram under #100days100blocks2021. Finished quilts are now showing up so you can see how people are putting these blocks together.

100 Blocks 100 Days

Spot the mistake! Not that I will fix the offending block. Only a couple more weeks and it will be time to start playing with settings.

100 Blocks 100 Days

Sometimes when I make a block I wonder if I have missed an opportunity. I'm still not sure how all of these are going to become one quilt but I'm looking forward to it.

100 Blocks 100 Days

I approach each block individually. I pick a single fabric and work with it to make that block. I'm not sure how these are going to go together but I'm hoping it all fits together. 100 Blocks 100 Days

I love using up little pieces of leftover fabric to make these blocks. I'm still pulling from scrap bins and I think this will be a great quilt. I post these every day (except that one day when I forgot until the following day) on my Instagram. I tag all of the photos so you can easily find other makers.

100 Blocks 100 Days

Week number two of my 100 Days 100 Blocks quilt along project.
I'm continuing to work through the 100 blocks. I've been pulling fabrics from my scrap bins. I'm sure this won't make much of a dent in my collection of scraps.

I'm not going to add individual photos to this post. I also will only update with a collage in the future. If you want to see any of these in greater detail you should check out my Instagram feed. You'll get updates daily for this project, assuming I can keep up. I post there more often than here.

100 Blocks 100 Days

I'm going to try to do a weekly update for my 100 Days 100 Blocks quilt along project. This is the first of those updates.
Last week I finished blocks 1-4.

I'm going very scrappy with this quilt. I'm using squares and strips I have left over from other projects. I have no idea what layout I'm going to use when I finish them all. It is an adventure!

Odds and Ends

Where does the time go?
I picked up this fun machine quilting book a couple months ago and I keep telling myself I'll actually write a review. Maybe next month.
I succeeded in getting block number one of 100 Days 100 Blocks completed. Wish me luck I can stay on track. That's it for today. Enjoy your weekend.
