Charming: Tapestry

I have an embarrassingly large stack of quilts waiting for binding. I quilted this charm quilt in March and I attached the binding.
I added my simple label to this one.
Here it is. Finished! I should pull out another stack of charm squares.

Accuquilt Go! - This is the basic kit that I started with. The cutter, one die, and mat.
Accuquilt Ready. Set. Go! - New to Accuquilt and ready to jump into the Accuquilt Go! with both feet? This is the set for you. It includes the 8 Inch Qube and a strip cutter.
8 Inch Qube - Already have an Accuquilt Go! and just want to add to your collection of dies?

Pieces of Love: (Un-)Quilting

I picked this beautiful color thread to quilt my Pieces of Love quilt.
I loaded it up and ready to quilt.
I quilted two rows of this delightful all-over feather. And hated every stitch. It was too dense. It didn't come close to what I imagined this would look like stitched out on this quilt.
Then, over the course of the week, I spent over four hours ripping out those two rows of quilting. It was back breaking, exhausting, and sad.
It made quite a mess. And I ripped more than a couple holes in the backing fabric. Thank goodness I bought the wide backing.
After all that ripping, I spent more time cleaning up the threads and pressing the quilt top, with starch, to get it smoothed out enough to quilt again. My Pieces of Love quilt will get quilted. Just not with these fancy feathers.

Charity Quilting

I added borders to this sunflower panel to bring it up to a crib size. Quilted with an all-over leaf design.
Pieced by Joan for Annapolis Quilts for KidsI quilted it with a fun flower and leaf design. Both are trimmed and ready for binding.

Fabric Acquisition

Last weekend I popped over to Spring Water Designs to pick up some backing for quilts. I was very good and only grabbed a couple things extra. I picked up a small Accuquilt Go! mat for my 6" dies. Always nice to have an extra on hand.
This fun speckle was a good fit for my Pieces of Love quilt. I'm excited to get this one quilted.
I grabbed this fun print to back my Brown Bag Mystery Quilt

I also grabbed a medium gray backing for my second Brown Bag Mystery Quilt, and a yard of pink fabric I hope to use in a summer quilt along.

Charming: Pheasant Hill

It's been a while since I posed an update on my Pheasant Hill charm quilt. I had more than a little yardage of a large floral print on a brown background that I decided would be a perfect backing for this quilt. I measured, cut, and pieced the backing. Then it was time to load it onto the frame and pick a quilting design.
Quilted and trimmed.
Now I just need to attach and finish the binding.

Random Blocks

I've had these five churn dash blocks hanging around forever. I decided to trim them, add matching borders, and put them into a charity quilt. Some left over blocks and I had something I liked. Now to piece it together and add some borders.
I've been gathering some 3.5" by 6.5" bricks to make a super scrappy quilt. I really like being able to pull a quilt together from a large selection of prints. Expect to see more of these.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me! Since I know what I like best, I bought myself this ruler for my birthday. From the Amazon description: "Created by Gudrun Erla of GE Design, this ruler includes all the features you expect from the original Stripology Ruler with the bonus benefits of the Stripology Squared."

Charity Quilting

I pieced this little quilt using a stack of 2.5" strips. I hope it makes someone happy. I love when I can combine strips from trimmed backings into a quilt top.
This simple quilt was pieced by Julie for Annapolis Quilts for Kids. Both are trimmed and ready for binding.

Scrappy Four-Patch in Square

Sometimes we make scraps. These are the leftover strips from squaring up my blocks.
I saw a YouTube video about making the four-patch in square block. These are super easy to make and use up scraps. The center four-patch is pieced using contrasting 2.5" strips. the corners were cut using the half-square triangle Accuquilt Go die. You can also cut a 4.5" square on the diagonal.
After piecing, you will have to square them up and trim off the excess. This where my 6.5" square ruler comes in handy. It has markings for the center of the ruler that make it so easy to get the block squared up.
I also used my Fiskars rotating mat so I wouldn't have to reposition the ruler. Just trim two sides, rotate the mat 180 degrees and repeat.
I trimmed up a good stack of these. Next I'll choose a layout and get them sewn into a little quilt.

Brown Bag Mystery Quilt

Once the big reveal was out, I started working on piecing the rows.
I love how this pattern was written when it came to putting the rows together. Everything came together perfectly. Well, as perfectly as it can when pieced.
I kept adding rows according to the layout.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I got it right the first time. I had some of the white-on-white background fabric, so I added a 2" border.
Then I added a blue border using some leftover backing fabric I had that matched. I think it came out great! Now to repeat it with my second quilt.

Charity Quilting

Sometimes I can turn a panel into a simple quilt. I added coordinating borders to this one before quilting.
This pinwheel quilt was pieced by Janice for Annapolis Quilts for Kids. Both are trimmed and ready for binding.
