Bricks and Stepping Stones

This project has been taking its time to get to this point. I've been using the Bricks and Stepping Stones blocks as a leaders & enders project for a the better part of a year. This free pattern from Bonnie Hunter can be found on her blog Quiltville.
While working on clue number three of Bonnie Hunter's En Provence mystery quilt I made some of the rows for this quilt.
I let the blocks work themselves out, so there are a few prints that are little closer than I would have planned. I'm not ripping them back out, though.
The center of this quilt is close to queen-size but I wanted to frame it with a good-size border.
I had this large floral in my collection for a while and I thought it would be perfect. I really like the graphic feel of this print and and the effect. The border measures 3.5 inches.
I took the quilt top to Spring Water Designs and picked this grunge in a 108" wide backing fabric. They had some standard-width, sale fabric that would have saved me a couple dollars (about $4) but I went with the wide because I am not a fan of piecing those backs. I embroidered the label directly onto the backing fabric. Don't forget the label!

  1. Hi Becca! Stopping by from the 31 Day Blogging Challenge link-up. This is really a cool quilt, looking pixelated and a great use of scraps! I hope to finish up a quilt tomorrow myself and can't forget that label!
